Mr. Morgan presented the petition of sundry citizens of Philadelphia, praying that a law may be passed exempting the property of the Pennsylvania Hospital from taxation; and The same was read and laid on the table. Mr. Smith presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Huntingdon courty, praying that a law may be passed incorporating a company for the purpose of erecting a toll bridge over the Juniata river at the borough of Huntingdon; and Said petition was read and referred to Mr. Smith, Mr. Beale and Mr. Murray with leave to report by bill or otherwise. Mr. Poe from the committee appointed for the purpose on the 24th inst. reported a bill, entitled • An act authorizing the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal church in the borough of Chambersburg, to sell a certain lot of ground,' which was read the first time. Mr. Reed from the committee appointed for the purpose on the 19th December last, reported a bill, entitled 'An act authorizing Joseph Budd and Joshua Budd to build a toll bridge across the Youghiogeny river in Westmoreland county,' which was read the first time. Mr. M Sherry from the committee appointed for the purpose, made further report in part, which was read as follows, to wit. That in conjunction with a similar committee from the House of Representatives, they have compared, and on the 26th inst. presented to the Governor for his approbation, the bills, entitled as follow, viz. An act enabling the Governor to incorporate a company for making an artificial road from the state line, near the town of Emmetsburg, in the state of Maryland, through Waynesburg, Greencastle and Mercersburg, to intersect the Chambersburg and Bedford turnpike road, at or near the east end of M'Connelsburg.' Mr. Morgan from the committee to whom was referred on the 9th inst. the petition of John Ashmead, on leave given, reported a bill, entitled An act making further provision for the support of the board of wardens for the port of Philadelphia,' which was read the first time. The bill, entitled A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company to erect a toll bridge over Big Beaver creek, at or near Wolf lane in the county of Beaver,' was read the third time, and9 Resolved, That this bill pass. Mr. Lowrie presented eight petitions of similar tenor, with documents, from sundry inhabitants of Allegheny and other counties, remonstrating against a re-survey of the road leading from the town of Indiana to Pittsburg, and praying that the last survey may be confirmed by an act of assembly; and The same were read and referred to Mr. Reed, Mr. Shannon, Mr. Lowrie, Mr. McFarland and Mr. Eeale. Mr. Beale presented four petitions of similar tenor from sundry inhabitants of Dauphin and other counties, praying for the incorporation of a company to erect a bridge over the Susquehanna at Clark's ferry; and The same were read and referred to the committee to whom similar petitions were referred on the 6th inst. Mr. Morgan presented the petition of Henry Myers of the city of Philadelphia, praying payment of certain expences incurred by the courts of appeal of the 25th regiment of Pennsylvania militia whilst sitting at his house; and The same was read and laid on the table.
