A motion was made by Mr. Frailey and Mr. Beale,

To amend said amendment by inserting between the word 'or' and public' these words foot passengers going to or returning from, which was agreed to, and the amendment as amended concurred in.

The remaining amendments were considered and concurred in. Ordered, That the clerk inform the House of Representatives accordingly.

On motion of Mr. G. Weaver and Mr. Frailey,

The amendments by the House of Representatives, to the bill, entitled

An act supplementary to an act, entitled, an act to enable the Governor to incorporate a company for making an artificial road from the Spring House tavern in Montgomery county, to the borough of Northampton in the county of Lehigh, and to the town of Bethlehem in the county of Northampton,' read on the 16th inst. were again read.

The first amendment was considered and non-concurred in. The remaining amendments were severally considered and concurred in.

Ordered, That the clerk inform the House of Representatives accordingly.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Poe in the chair, on the bill, entitled

'An act to enable Charles Maus and John Solomon of the town of New Berlin in the county of Union, to dig establish and support a mill race on the south side of Penn's creek opposite said town."

And after some time,

The committee rose, reported progress and asked leave to sit again; leave was granted, and

Ordered, That the committee of the whole sit again this day week.

Mr. Beale presented the petition of sundry inhabitants of Turbett township in the county of Mifflin, praying that the said township may be erected into an election district, and that the elections may be held at the house now occupied by John Mor

rison; and

Said petition was read and referred to the committee on election districts.

The bill, entitled

A further supplement to an act, entitled, an act authorizing the commissioners of Berks county to build a stone bridge over the river Schuylkill near the town of Reading in the said county,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the clerk present said bill to the House of Representatives for concurrence.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act to incorporate the Bridgeport Manufacturing Company,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the clerk return said bill to the House of Representatives with information that Senate have passed the same, with amendments, in which the concurrence of that house is requested.

The Speaker declared that Mark Richards, Mathew Carey and William Boyd were duly elected directors of the Bank of Pennsylvania for the ensuing year.

The Speaker declared that John Geyer, Joseph Worrell and William Smiley were duly elected directors of the Philadelphia Bank for the ensuing year.

The clerk of the House of Representatives being introduced, informed, that that house have concurred in the amendments by Senate, to the bill, entitled

An act concerning the patenting of lands."

He further informed,

That the House of Representatives have receded from their *non-concurrence in the amendments, insisted on by Senate, to the bill, entitled

An act authorizing the appointment of an additional auctioneer within the city and liberties of Philadelphia.'

That the House of Representatives have receded from their amendment to the amendment by Senate, non-concurred in by Senate, to the bill, entitled

'An act to authorize the purchase of certain copies of Smith's edition of the laws of Pennsylvania,'

Agreeably to order,

The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Hopkins in the chair, on the bill, entitled

• An act to authorize John Snyder of Northampton county, his heirs and assigns to erect and maintain a wing-dam in the river Lehigh under certain restrictions.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill with amendments, which were read.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Reed in the chair, on the bill, entitled

An act to enable the executors of Walter Clark, deceased, to convey a certain tract of land.'
