OUTLINE DRAWINGS SPECIAL NOTES

(Examples of special notes to be placed on each drawing to which they may apply.)

The bottom slab shall be placed on thoroughly compacted earth or backfill.
11⁄2"Floor finish to be placed in Units...only, and not until after second-stage con-
crete has been placed and equipment installed.

Light steel-trowel finish top of structural slab to El..... Note for deck and
to receive bituminuous membrane waterproofing. platform drawings.
Except as noted hereon, all dimensions for Unit......are the same as for Units ..as
shown on...... D...............

Cross hatching indicates area to be wood-float finished.

For location of generator partition and curbs see Terrazzo Finish drawings. Place tie-to inserts in the bottom of the slab @3:0"centers in the area between reference lines to and to except in the stairway slab.

(Above note for areas to support suspended metal lath and plaster ceilings.) Existing concrete to be removed to elevations shown. (on alteration dwgs.)

New concrete shall have an ultimate compressive strength of not less than [4000] lbs. per sq. in.

Care shall be taken in the construction of the walls and floor of the sump to obtain as impervious concrete and tight joints as possible in order to reduce leakage to a minimum.

Extra care shall be taken to obtain true and smooth contact surfaces for draft tube gates to insure tight seating of gates.

(On all floor plans which are to receive an applied finish place the following note on each area of different slab thickness.)

Top of [12] rough slab El. 11⁄2"finish.

(Use top of finish El. in drawing title as: Floor El. 1012.50)

(All untraced drawings issued to the field shall have a note defining its status.
Place one of the following examples, as may apply, in "high CAPITAL letters
along the lower border next to the title block: Preliminary may be used for
construction; Preliminary-not to be used for construction - for advance infor-
mation only or...for study purposes only; Preliminary- may be used for excava-
tion; Preliminary-may be used for construction of encircled parts only, or
may be used for construction up to El........

REINFORCEMENT--DRAWING NOTES

REINFORCEMENT - DRAWING NOTES.

The following notes are to be put on a key sheet, such as the first floor plan, and located above the title block. Repeat on each set of dwg's., such as the Service Bay, Control Bay, etc., but only on the Substructure of each set unless the Intermediate or Superstructure is to be built by another contractor, in which case repeat on lowest plan. Comments below in parentheses () are not to be copied.

(General) NOTES

All bent bars to have prefix letter to number given. (R For Control bays; P for Main
Units and Service bay or whole building if no expansion joints.)
Reinforcement billed for one Typical Unit only.

Only for buildings with expansion joints.

All dimensions to a joint are to the center line of the joint.
Dimensions to reinforcement are to the center lines of the bars.
n.f. indicates near face; f.f.,far face; e.f., each face. (Cols, walls, etc.)

t.f. indicates top face; b.f. bottom face; t.r.,top row; b.r., bottom row. (Slabs, beams, etc.)
Open circles at ends of bars indicate bends turned away from the observer.
Numerals in parentheses following section numbers indicate the drawing number
upon which the section is shown.

Reinforcement may be moved as necessary to clear pipes, seals, recesses, embedded metalwork, and conduits except in heavily reinforced areas, as for example bars at minimum spacing in main crane columns.

For other embedded metalwork not shown, such as seals, pipes, sleeves, conduits,
bolts, etc., see references on Outline drawings.

(To the above general notes add such of the following notes as may apply.)
Broken reinforcement bars shall be treated as shown on Dwg... D........

Use small-size scrap reinforcement for spacer ties for inner rows of beams and columns.

(The following note is to be placed on all reinforcement dwg's except the key sheet.)
NOTE (or Notes)

For general notes and reference drawings see................(refer to key sheet.)
(To the above note add any special notes as each dwg. may require; for example:)

No reinforcement to be placed between conduits in Floor El...- - - --

Dowels shown on this dwg. are to be grouted into drilled holes which are located on dwa...
Lengths of dowels are based on a bottom elevation of ........

Vertical dowels shown on this sheet shall be deformed bars of [hard] grade billet steel.
H.T.S.indicates high tensile strength steel or hard grade steel.
Horizontal reinforcement to be cut off 2-6" from line of concrete cut.
Existing bars..... at El... to be bent into slab as shown in section....

For location of (79) anchors (PIOC5) for draft tube liner see Dwg......D......

Vertical bar lengths in the walls and columns are based on the elevations shown on excavation Drawing...D........ If excavation is deeper, bar lengths should be increased accordingly.

NOTES

For all contact surfaces, remove neoprene coating, except where
placed flush, buff surfaces and apply rubber cement
Thicknesses and dimensions shown are a minimum
No 16 goge stainless steel connecting plates to be cut to
size and drilled in the field for bolts.
Cover open ends of waterstops "D" and "E" with 2- layers
of gem rubber cemented in place.

Connection of these waterstops to type "N" metal seal is made
similar to Detail "A" by replacing either of the type "F"
waterstops with the metal seal
