SPLICES IN COLUMN VERTICALS To relieve congestion of reinforcement and to improve concrete placement where the vertical bars are at a close spacing, do not splice all vertical column reinforcement at the same level. Where more than one row is in one face, splice rows at different levels. Where only one row is in a face, splice bars in adjacent faces at different levels (opposite faces at the same level). Stagger splices with at least one foot separation (See example below.) or at next construction joint above. However, hold the projection of verticals, above the existing concrete, to a minimum not to exceed 2 stories or about 20 to 30 feet so that a long fall of concrete and the resultant segregation of aggregate is prevented: Hungry Horse Power Plant --Typical Reinforcement Details 447-D-102 447-D-302 545-D-222 33-D-3641 33-D-3642 545-D-321 545-D-322 447-D-303 37 38 39 32 Hungry Horse Power Plant--Expansion Joint Details 36 Drop No. 4 Power Plant--Powerhouse Superstructure-- 447-D-496 447-D-497 447-D-498 545-D-231 545-D-236 545-D-478 212-D-4738 212-D-4740 |
