Education Horizons : White Paper on Restructuring the Education System

This document presents the Nova Scotia government plan for improving the provincial education structure in order to foster excellence that will better serve the needs of students. It first describes the framework for a renewal of the education system. This renewal seeks to improve performance, modify roles and responsibilities of all education partners, and address structural issues respecting school boards. The document then reviews the consultation process developed to receive feedback on proposed new directions for provincial education. Finally, it describes the proposed transition to a more effective education system, including fostering of community involvement, assigning roles and responsibilities, and restructuring school boards. An agenda for further consultation and implementation of changes is included.
