I hate to have to write a review for this but the 1star review "too hard for man" really necessitates this.
I found the earlier editions very informative and clearly written with many practical applications I actually use in my work. I'm positive Gallian's treatment has only improved and that the book is accessible to anyone interested in an introduction to the field.
I highly recommend this book.
