Following the American Revolution, this Act invited Empire Loyalists wishing to relocate to a British protectorate to settle in the Province of Quebec, Nova Scotia, or the West Indies. New settlers were allowed to relocate and bring their household furniture, utensils of husbandry, and clothing as well as their enslaved Africans, duty-free.
