    Dragon Hunter

    This is a book I sought for several years but could never find it at Barnes & Noble and the public library. I found it on EBAY, and it was a very reasonable price. I'm still reading it, but the adventures of the main character, Roy Chapman Andrews, are fascinating and the scope of his travels incredible when considering they took in the early 1900s. He seemed to almost commute between New York, where he was associated with the Museum of National History, and China and Mongolia. Another reason that drew me to the book was the belief that Andrews may have been the model for Indiana Jones, the dashing, risk-taking-galore archaeologist. For years, I assumed Howard Carter of King Tut fame might have been the model, but later learned it was Andrews. This book supports that conclusion. One ...

    Dragon Hunter

    This book is well written and highly readable. Some historians consider Roy Chapman Andrews to be the model for the popular film character Indiana Jones. From a modest beginning, Mr. Andrews became a self taught and highly regarded paleontologist in the early decades of the 1900's. He was an early explorer and expedition leader to previously unknown and uncharted areas of Middle-Asia. Mr. Chapman wrote and lectured on his exciting experiences thereby becoming a world recognized authority in his field of expertise during his lifetime.
