About the author (1994)

Carol Wekesser is an editor with Greenhaven Press. She has done extensive work on the Opposing Viewpoints Series, which attempts to hone critical reading and thinking skills in high school students by presenting differing opinions on a variety of issues under a single theme. Wekesser has delved into social issues with such books as Pornography, The Death Penalty, and Child Welfare; into world affairs with American Foreign Policy, The Breakup of the Soviet Union and Central America; and into health concerns with Chemical Dependency and Genetic Engineering. She produces books that encourage students to form their own opinions while challenging preconceived assumptions.
