"This book is the translation of the second edition of "Einführung in die Geschichte der Architekturtheorie" published in 1987. As a discipline, the theory of architecture is first in the field of literature and art manifests itself by treaties provided by chronicles, pamphlets, fictional texts, even utopian. The scientific tradition dates back to the Treaty "Ten books of architecture" of the engineer-architect Vitruvius, book dedicated to the Emperor Augustus. Italy, France, England and Germany, the literary discourse on architecture until the nineteenth century reflected the echo of the founding text.
