About the author (2001)

Heimlich provided the first evidence suggesting the matrilineal social organization in killer whales at the first Orca Symposium in the 1980s in Seattle, Washington.

Boran has studied cetaceans since the mid-1970s and has worked on many projects. He is a Graduate Tutor at the University of Manchester Inst. of Science and Technology in Manchester, England.
