Este livro é de uma grande utilidade. Todos os professores, formadores de professores, pais e decisores políticos deveriam lê-lo. Talvez assim se começasse a ter um discurso mais lúcido, informado e consistente sobre o que realmente conta na educação. Este livro ajuda a sair do "senso comum", do discurso puramente ideológico e auto-centrado ou, como costumo dizer, do olhar para o umbigo, centrando a actividade profissional no alimento dos egos mais do que na realização eficiente das tarefas. E este país precisa cada vez mais de profissionais centrados nas tarefas. Com tantos egos e propaganda à solta será difícil dar uma novo rumo e esperança aos portugueses.
Para a educação este livro representa um sair da idade das trevas para a idade das luzes. Exige leitura atenta e crítica, debate e análise... Exige alguns conhecimentos científicos e estatísticos mas que são bem explicados pelo autor. Exige esforço e empenhamento como qualquer actividade interessante e estimulante

I didn't so much read this book as browse it on many occasions. Apart from the intro section, so that I could understand what was going on with the diagrams. This book is constantly referred to in my school and I can see why - it shows many of the keys teachers hold to help our students achieve. Read full review
