A Safe ConductA fictionalized account of a 15th Century children's revolt in Germany. When the local count increases taxes, a mysterious youth--in fact the count's bastard son--incites the village children to rebel. The children appoint a shepherd as their chief and defeat the count's troops. The count asks for negotiations, the shepherd goes and is hanged, the rebellion collapses and only the son gains, now recognized by his father. |
