Evolution of a Life

Brian L King, May 30, 2013 - Poetry - 178 pages

This collection of poetry represents a journey of a portion of my lifetime from age 13 to 33. Although there is no such way a compilation could possibly reflect all my thoughts and ideas through those stages, it is representative of my growth, my evolution. The collection is split by decades: teens, twenties, and thirties. Where possible, the actual dates of the poems' creation are included. some poems reflect specific, personal situations, while others empathically represent situations from lives of those around me. Still other pieces may seem nonsensical yet needed to be included as a reminder of not to take life too seriously. Some selections are raw and push the borders of language but show honest reactions formed via artistic filters. Unfortunately, some of the poems may seem mean and hurtful. it is my most sincere hope that the individuals to whom those are directed do NOT take the words personally as those items of self-expression were an essential part of my healings and growing process. This collection is open and honest. I hope you enjoy, maybe, you will even be inspired!
