User Review - Flag as inappropriateI won't lie, I got this book because I had seen the movie and thought that it was good. After reading through it for a bit, I quickly realized that the movie was only loosely based on the book. Frankly, the book was better. The movie was typically full of flashy distractions and Will Smith being Will Smith, but the book really allowed Asimov's idea's about robots and their effect on human society to shine through. I found it really interesting that the humans were so dramatic and volitile while even the allegedly insane robots were calm and seemingly logical. Also, it was intersting that mankind faught so hard to keep the robots 'slavish' and in the end the robots control the most powerful and pervasive facets of society. Very good book.
User Review - Flag as inappropriate As much as I enjoy the film adaptation of Asimov's, I Robot, the book blows it away as far as even more substance and humor. The storyline is completely different in the book with some themes loosely connecting it with the film.
User Review - Flag as inappropriateA thought-provoking and extensive examination of various implications of Artificial General Intelligence. Some of the incidental scientific facts are out of date, but that's to be expected.
User Review - Flag as inappropriateThis book is fantastic. Much better than the movie.
Basically, the book is broken down into a few sections. Each section builds on the last, but they can be read individually. The movie is a new section, basically.
However, the book makes you think much more than the movie. Very interesting, and a good read (again, one of those books you just need to be able to talk about if you have to).
