James Rogers (ca. 1615-1687) was born in England and immigrated to America in 1635 aboard the ship "Increase". He settled in New Haven Colony (later Connecticut) and in 1639 married Elizabeth Rowland, daughter of Samuel Rowland of Stratford. Many of the Rogers families went to Nova Scotia in 1759 at the invitation of Governor Charles Lawrence to farm areas left vacant by the expulsion of the Acadians. Descendants and relatives of the Nova Scotia Rogers lived in Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, California, New Hampshire, Vermont, and elsewhere.
